Which futures platform runs best on your VPS?

All the major ones: NinjaTrader 8, Sierra Chart, Tradovate, TradeStation, MotiveWave, and Jigsaw. Sierra Chart is the lightest on RAM but hungry on single-core clock speed; NinjaTrader is the opposite. The Pro plan and above are sized for running both at once.

Do you handle Rithmic and CQG feeds correctly?

Yes. Both feeds connect over ordinary outbound internet from your VPS, with no consumer NAT and no ISP throttling during market-open bursts. Note that our servers are in Germany and the Netherlands, not Chicago, so latency to CME is the same transatlantic hop any EU trader has. If you scalp right at the CME matching engine, a Chicago-based host is the better fit.

Can I run a strategy through contract rollover automatically?

Yes, when your platform supports it. Sierra Chart has continuous contracts (#F suffix) that auto-splice, and NinjaTrader lets ATM strategies migrate on rollover date. Because the VPS stays online 24/5, scheduled rollover actions actually fire, unlike a home PC that might be asleep at 6pm CT on rollover day.

What about the 5pm CT Globex maintenance window?

The exchange is closed, not the server. Your VPS stays running, your platform stays open, and reconnection happens automatically when Globex reopens at 6pm CT. No manual restart needed on Sunday evening either.

Is this suitable for prop-firm evaluations (Topstep, Apex, TakeProfitTrader)?

Yes. Prop firms explicitly allow VPS execution and most of their traders use one to survive the drawdown rules. A stalled fill during a news spike is often what blows an evaluation. The Pro plan is the most common choice for a single-account evaluation; Advanced or Elite for several funded accounts.

Windows or Linux?

Windows Server (2019, 2022 or 2025) for most traders: NinjaTrader, Sierra Chart, Tradovate desktop, and TradeStation are all Windows-native. Linux is available if you're running Python execution against a broker API (Interactive Brokers TWS gateway, Rithmic R|API+, or a custom TT SDK integration).
