Every US listed exchange runs its matching engine in Northern New Jersey: NYSE at Mahwah (MMU), NASDAQ and ARCA at Equinix NY4 in Secaucus, IEX at NY5. Placing your VPS inside NY4/NY5 collapses order round-trip to well under 1ms. From a residential ISP in Los Angeles or Sydney, that same round-trip is 70–200ms. On the opening bell or during a catalyst move, that difference is the fill price you actually get.
ThinkOrSwim (Schwab), Interactive Brokers TWS, TradeStation, Lightspeed and DAS Trader Pro are the workhorses and all run on Windows Server 2022 out of the box. IBKR's API gateway (both TWS API and IBKR Web API) has a particularly clean path from our NY nodes, which is useful if you're running Python or C# order routing.
