Self-host Dokploy on a VPS

Dokploy runs well on a GhostRDP Linux VPS Standard plan with 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM in Germany or the Netherlands, from €12.99/mo.

Dokploy is an open-source deployment platform: it builds and runs your apps and databases with Docker, and routes traffic with Traefik. One script installs everything on a fresh server.

  • Apps and databases

Deploy from Git, Dockerfiles or Compose files.

  • Traefik routing

Domains and certificates handled for each app.

  • Monitoring built in

Watch CPU, memory and logs per service.

Plans for Dokploy

How to install Dokploy

Written for Ubuntu 24.04 from the official instructions. Run the commands as root and replace YOUR_SERVER_IP with your server's address.

  1. 1

Connect to your server over SSH

Use the IP address and root password from your welcome email (the server page has a Copy SSH command button). Windows 10 and 11, macOS and Linux all include an SSH client in the terminal.

    Shell
    ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP
  2. 2

    Update the system

Install the latest security updates before you add anything else.

    Shell
apt update && apt -y upgrade
  3. 3

    Run the Dokploy installer

The official script installs Docker, Dokploy and Traefik. It stops if port 80, 443 or 3000 is already in use.

    Shell
    curl -sSL https://dokploy.com/install.sh | sh
  4. 4

    Create the admin account

Open http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:3000 and create your administrator account straight away.

  5. 5

    Deploy your first app

Create a project, add an application from your Git provider or a Docker image, and set its domain.

After installing

  • Ports
3000 for the dashboard, 80 and 443 for your apps through Traefik.
  • Secure the dashboard
Give Dokploy itself a domain with HTTPS in its settings, then stop using the plain IP:3000 address.
  • Backups
Server backups are not included. Dokploy can back up databases to S3-compatible storage.
